Just your typical November afternoon in Seattle. Blue skies, temperature in the low 70’s, gentle breeze. It’s like this every year…Actually that’s a lie. The last time Seattle had a November 4th like this was back in 1949. I was just a young fledgling photographer back then. Ok, that’s a lie too.
I can’t think of a better way to spend a record setting sunny Fall day than photographing a new project for client and pal Terry Hunziker.
Final images to come…

Last week I photographed the newly remodeled Olive Way Starbucks store the weekend before it’s grand opening/unveiling to the public.
There has been a lot of buzz around this store for a number of reasons but primarily because it represents a major new direction for Starbucks. While both “inspired by Starbucks” stores in Seattle’s Capitol Hill neighborhood have been serving beer and wine for almost a year, The Olive Way store will be the first branded Starbucks store to serve beer and wine (after 4pm). « Read the rest of this entry »

I’ve been messing around with the blog the past few days trying to get a look that I like and have settled on WordPress’ “Oulipo” theme for now. I like the fonts and the layout. I was really jazzed on some Graph Paper Press themes but it’s going to take some work and lots of help from the brother-in-law to configure and get it all working.
I also kinda like “Wu Wei” and may switch to that in the next few hours. It’s not as elegant as “Oulipo” but it does allow for viewing images larger than 460 pixels. Decisions decisions!

I’ve got a nice photo spread in the new Fall 2010 issue of the “Northwest” edition of LUXE Interiors + Design Magazine.
The project is an impressive downtown Seattle penthouse remodel done by interior designer Gregory Carmichael, architect Richard Sundberg and built by Schultz | Miller. It’s always interesting to see how others end up arranging and cropping your images for a layout. Often times a creative crop by a photo editor reveals a “new” image hidden within the original. I really like how they put it all together….
The issue is on the newsstands now. Be sure to pick up a copy and support the cause! 😉

Photographed the exterior of a pretty impressive waterfront home for sale on Mercer Island. The house is still under construction so I’ll be back in a month or so to photograph some of the interior spaces. I say “some” of the interior spaces because the house is over 12,000sqft!
The roof of the boat house provided a great vantage point to capture the scale of the home:
Yours for a shade under $30 million….

A behind-the-scenes iPhone shot taken at a recent interior photo shoot for Starbucks.
I’m leaning a little heavy on the table as this was probably taken around 3am on the home stretch of an all nighter – shooting from 10pm till 5am. Much thanks to Tobi The Designer for sticking it out with us for the whole shoot and John Galfano for the fabulous assisting.
